Remote - US

Jobs header team office

This role can be performed remotely anywhere within the United States and Canada.

FullStory’s mission is to help teams create amazing online experiences for their users. We do this by applying deep expertise in distributed systems and computer science to build an ambitiously high-scale and high-value platform.

The scale at which FullStory ingests, processes, and persists data makes our systems uniquely challenging to design and operate. As a senior software engineer focused on our data pipelines, you will be working on a platform that will power the next generation of data analytics features at FullStory. You will also be building software that delivers data to various destinations, from our internal product analytics and search engines to customer-owned data lakes.

This role reports to Engineering Manager, Data Platform.

Day-to-day you’ll:

  • Help design and evolve FullStory's highly distributed data processing pipelines and data management systems.

  • Develop ideas about how to unlock new features through thoughtful architecture and framework designs.

  • Plan for growth by understanding how to scale data processes from proof of concept through full production scale.

  • Ensure the quality and reliability of FullStory's data across the many data stores both internally and externally.

  • Develop and improve tooling to manage data at rest across our internal data stores.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Understands the nuances of distributed architectures and databases. (e.g., types of failures, complex distributed algorithms interactions)

  • Has experience working with distributed systems.

  • Has experience building systems and frameworks consumed by other engineers.

  • Has experience participating in code reviews, design reviews, and pair architecting.

It would be amazing if:

  • You have experience with Go and Apache Beam.

  • You have worked on asynchronous processing systems or frameworks.

  • You have a strong understanding of SQL.

  • You are familiar with streaming architectures.

You might want to know what our stack looks like - here’s a glimpse:

  • GCP-based; heavy use of Cloud Datastore, BigQuery, Bigtable

  • Kubernetes (GKE), terraform, helm

  • Python, Jupyter and GCP based services for data science and machine learning

  • General services written in Go; gRPC for APIs; prometheus for monitoring

  • React and Typescript on the frontend

  • Java, ObjC, and Rust for our mobile stack

  • Monorepo for our code: we’re one big happy (in-sync!) family

  • CircleCI-based continuous integration and team-based service ownership allow us to deploy software dozens of times per week
